✦ HANDWOVEN IN INDIA: worked by hand in our family workshop in Jaipur, one step mat at a time.
✦ DESIGN: four solid blocks of color run across each mat, a narrow band of soft clay at one end, then deep cocoa, then graphite grey, then a wide block of warm terracotta clay. No pattern, no motif, just color meeting color.
✦ SURFACE: a deep, dense pile you feel through your socks, quite different from a flat woven mat. Thick enough to soften a hard timber step.
✦ COLOUR: red, magenta, turquoise, gold, purple and green flecked through the braid like confetti, against a warm natural ground.

HOW TO FIT
✦ These mats are woven through with no rubber or latex backing.
✦ Hold each one in place with double sided carpet tape or tread grippers, sold separately.
✦ Press the front edge down firmly first, then smooth the mat back towards the riser.
✦ Lift and refit every few months so the tape stays fresh and the mats sit flat.
✦ CURVED STAIRS: These are rectangles, so they suit straight flights. If your staircase turns on pie shaped winder steps, message us before ordering and we will quote the winders as custom shapes.

✦ Vacuum regularly without a beater bar

NOTES
1. Every mat is made by hand, so the angle of the rows and the color order shift a little from piece to piece. That variation is the mark of handwork, not a fault.
2. A little loose fiber in the first few weeks is normal. Trim any strand that stands proud, never pull it.
3. The bright cord is dyed. Blot spills quickly and keep the mats off wet floors, because color sitting against pale natural cord can transfer while damp.
4. The pattern is on the top face, so lay each mat with this side up.
5. Duty and taxes are already paid by us. Nothing more to pay on delivery.
